Loading the Game –

Files:
doors.wav: Tape recording of Doors program

For doors.wav:
– After booting the machine, insert the tape image;
– Type ‘CLOAD’ and press Enter;
– After the game loads, type ‘RUN’ and press Enter to start the game.
For doors.dsk:
– Insert the disk image in the first slot, then boot the machine;
– The game should load and start automatically.

 

Game Instructions –

Use the arrow keys to move and press Space three times to open a door or lock;
Opening the elevator’s door allows you to go to another floor with an elevator by using Up and Down;
Find a key to open the garage containing the car and escape in it when you find the car keys;
The doors that flash contain point bonuses; In the bonus rounds, open the doors by the order they flash.

How to Play
Track down the garage and car keys hidden in the building’s 52 doors to open the garage, find the car and escape. If you touch and enemy, run out of power or let it get too high (over 4000), you die. Leaping down will cause you to lose a chunk of your power.
To use the elevator at the center, stand in front of its door and press the Space key several times until the enemies stop alongside the sound. When that happens, you may warp up or down by pressing the corresponding directions.
In the bonus round, you have to open the doors that flashed in order. The purple door is the first one, and the number of doors that flash corresponds to the round’s number, so rounds 1 and 2 should be extremely simple.
The doors that flash at the start of either contain an EXTRA(yellow) or a multiplier(red) upon opening. The four sounds that occur when the game starts, at the beginning of a round (right before the doors flash) are also hints to certain things.
The place where the car key is related in some degree to the score.
What lies behind a door is shown below the score, and can be one of the following:

●CAR KEY …… Without this, you can’t clear the stage.
●KEY …… Opens a passageway to the 8th floor, or a garage from the 1st floor.
●X n …… Multiplies by n (consecutives are 2 times n, minus n + 1)
●EXTRA n …… By getting 4 of these consecutively from the round’s start, you get one life. Furthermore, getting 6 nets you another life.
●ENEMY …… Adds 1 enemy.
●BONUS …… 300 * (multiplier) Pts.
●POWER …… Increases power.
●EMPTY …… Empty (decreases power, getting it 2 times removes an enemy).

Conclusion
Doors that have been opened once will be empty. Also, you may only hold one key, so take caution. Multipliers get more useful the higher they are, and affect both power and bonuses. The speed changes according to the amount of power.
