Hence why I wiped it out. Yeah, I never understood why you'd use LiveJournal in the first place. College acquaintances be damned. Anyway, you can just petition archive.org to remove your LJ, just like all of your other sites.
You guys make good points, but I guess I'm not that paranoid. Taking
your LJ as an example... you wouldn't care that your potential employer
knew you were a furry? Geez, I can see not caring if random internet
people know your, erm... interests, but your co-workers... yikes :/

let's say a potential employer decides not to hire someone based on
their sexuality. Isn't that descrimination? I can't speak
for Kitsune, but I personally wouldn't want to work for someone who
blatantly descriminates like that.
And as far as co-workers go,
if you're open enough to publicly post it on your LJ, it's pretty much
open for discussion at work, as far as I'm concerned. This is
just my opinion, though. I'm curious to see what Kitsune has to
say. ^^ |
Soon
the super karate monkey death car would park in my space. But Jimmy has
fancy plans... and pants to match. The monkey clown horrible karate
round and yummy like cute small baby chick would beat the donkey.

Turns out my name is pretty popular, apparently I worked on quite a few
games, and if I spell my last name the more traditional way I worked on
even more. I guess my name is popular with game developers and
scientist... odd, two things I'm interested in. |

YIFF YIFF YIFF YIFF YIFF YIFF YIFF!
Now that I've gotten that off my chest...
I really don't care if they see that. Wanna know the most furry thing
I've ever done? I've worn a tail and ears to a halloween party at
college. That's it. I don't do MUCKs, I don't go to cons, I don't own
artwork (though I do have a few avatars and images done by friends), I
don't buy furry stuff (the only furry thing I own is my 'Proud to be a furry'
button and a male Furvert tag a friend gave me years ago), I don't
screw around with random guys, I try to keep away from furry drama, I
don't wear a fursuit, I most definitely do NOT have a "character", I
only own one plush doll (of Tails, and that was a gift from my
ex-girlfriend back in 2002) and I'm not a super pervert who's thinking
about sex all the time (even if that's what most furs think of when
they see a guy with a fox avatar for some reason). I am a
pervert, I do have my uh, kinks, but I keep that stuff away from
my normal day to day life. While furry itself did open up my eyes to
other sides of my sexuality, it doesn't dominate it. I like HUMANS, not
animals, ya know?
I've said it before, and I'll say it again:
Furry to me ain't about the sex. It's just a way of getting to know
more people. I've found some really cool friends through it, and that's
it. It's just one side of my social life.
If people ask me about
it, then I'll just explain it to them. I don't think I am a fox, I
don't think I used to be a fox, or that I have the soul of one. I'm
just a guy who identifies with foxes and who likes them a lot. |

Heh, sorry. I wasn't implying anything negative even if you were a
hardcore furry. Just that I sure the hell wouldn't want my employer
knowing my sexual preference, let alone fetish. But on the internet, I
can easily disclose such details. I'm asexual with no real fetishes to
my knowledge, by the way. Anything deeper than that does not belong
even on the internet. But I do have this morbid fascination with human
psychology, and frequent portalofevil, so I get to learn about all
kinds of fetishy joy. I think arborism is my favorite at the moment.
Man, that has to be a tough one. Every time you walk outside, sheesh.

college. Aww. Too much POE reading, I suppose. From what I've seen
though, most furries seem to treat it as waaaaay more sexual than you
do. But what do I know as an outside observer, right? Well, that makes it way less, uh, brave, to admit to your peers then, but easier for me to understand at least.
Well, back to the subject at hand, then...

Asexual
huh? I'm not sure I buy that unless you're saying you're physically
asexual in which case you have my sympathy because that would
absolutely suck. No, not physically.
Outside of that, anyone who has experienced some good sexual activity couldn't possibly not be interested. I've
never tried heroin before, either. It might in fact be good, and it
might be addicting, but since I have absolutely no interest in ever
trying it, I guess I'll never know, will I?
It's bizarre, I admit, but eh. Not like we choose these things before we're born, right?
Personally,
I prefer (and have) a platonic* relationship. In other words, a partner
in life to share expenses (rent, utilities, car insurance), someone to
fall back on in the event that one is injured and cannot work for a
period of time, someone to watch movies with, eat dinner with, etc. In
other words, a hybrid of a really good roommate and best friend, with
no sexuality involved. It seems to work quite well, and it beats the
hell out of living alone.
* platonic - "Transcending physical desire and tending toward the purely spiritual or ideal: platonic love."
Anyway,
point being: I wouldn't want my coworkers to know any of this. To my
coworkers, I am a typical, heterosexual male. If asked, I am whatever
religion the person asking me is (usually Christian). I'm a patriot,
have never used drugs, and like all types of sports. Of course, none of
that is true in reality. I avoid as much stress as possible when I
can't simply turn off the monitor when I don't feel like dealing with
someone's ignorance and bigotry.
Man but this post has certainly ventured into new and distubring territory. Heh, my apologies. I shouldn't have brought up the thing about Kitsune, but I thought it made a good point for most

Just to drag this back on topic, I seem to have plenty of good info so
far. But, could anyone elaborate on the details regarding Metal Gear 2
being translated? It was done by a Dutch gentleman, correct? If you
guys don't have the full story, no biggie, I can ask at MSX Resource
Centre. I'm just too lazy to find my old login there.
Also,
I'm sure some fan translation groups have taken HUGE liberties on
occasion. Does anyone have, close to hand, a screenshot with a piece of
insane fan-written dialogue, that was added to a game? You know,
something that would work as an example of light relief in the feature.
Also...
Examples of fan altered title screens, Russian translated PS1 game
screens, and anything else you guys feel is unique or needs to be shown
would also be great. Otherwise I'll be picking and choosing based on
personal opinion.
Is there any specific computer program you
use during the translation process? SInce I'd love to get a screengrab
of one in action.
As for a finalisation date for this, my ed
should be sorting out a flat plan in about 2 weeks, after which i
should get my commission papers, and then this can get completed.
Otherwise I might not be posting so actively until then, got tons to
do. But that doesn't mean I've forgotten!
Closer to the time,
I'll post my choices for the top 5 translation patches, as well as a
brief explanation on the translating process, as far as I know it, for
your perusal.

Tales of Phantasia translation instantly springs to mind, seeing how I
was just playing it the other day, take a look at the screenshots in
this directory: http://dragonsbrethren.elazulspad.net/images/top/
Final
Fantasy IV also had quite a bit of written-in dialog, but I don't have
any screenshots (To be honest, some of it is better than the original,
especially Golbez) |
